My Timpi Journey – A Timpi Community Story
It all began when I was a kid and bought a used Commodore 64 from an older boy.
I had been fascinated by video games ever since I saw my very first one — the kind where each player used a dial to control a line and play a game of ping pong on a CRT television.
I vividly remember how we used to rent a gaming console for the weekend from the local kiosk, along with two VHS movies.
From that moment on, I was hooked on technology and computers.
I dreamed of owning an Amiga 500 — a dream that, unfortunately, never came true.
When I was around 8 or 9 years old, I built my very first PC.
I had help from one of my mother’s colleagues — a slightly quirky but patient guy. It was a big deal back then: an Intel Pentium 80286 processor, and it even came with an Epson printer.
I saved up half the cost myself, and my parents covered the rest because they could see how wildly passionate I was about it.
It was amazing. Suddenly, I could do my homework on a computer, print my assignments neatly on quality paper with illustrations, instead of handing in messy, scribbled pages.
From there, I kept going. Building PCs became second nature. Gaming became my hobby — a nerdy niche at the time — but tech was my real passion.
I eventually trained as an electrician and worked part-time at an internet café.
I helped friends and acquaintances build desktop and gaming PCs. I never charged for it — it was pure passion and curiosity.
When I finished my training and turned 21, I had to draw a number for the military draft — it’s mandatory in Denmark.
I was assigned to the Emergency Management Agency, where I trained as a firefighter. That was the kickstart of my career, now 27 years strong.
Throughout the journey, my love for tech, gaming, and PC building never left — it remained a constant hobby.
In 2019, I began looking into crypto and built my first GPU miner.
Why not put my skills to use and try making money from them?
But the market quickly shifted to ASICs, which didn’t excite me in the same way.
Then I came across a YouTube streamer who overclocked his ASIC miners. In one of his videos, he also introduced a project called Timpi, and right away, I saw an opportunity to use my skills to build PCs and gaming systems — all while getting involved in something fresh and groundbreaking.
Plus, it was a great reason to shut down the last of those boring ASICs.
Joining the Timpi community has been an absolute pleasure.
There are incredibly skilled supporters, and everyone is genuinely helpful.
When I needed assistance buying my first NFTs, help was there without hesitation — and that kind of support builds real trust in a project.
Today, I’m proud to call myself a Knight Timplar and a self-hosted node operator.
And if there’s anyone in the community who needs a hand — just ask!
